Insect
The Insect Module focused on studying and crafting the characteristics we liked or disliked of an insect or a creature we consider pests. Drawings were made to study the body structure, form and movement of the pests followed by crafting of conceptual models for better understanding of the form and mechanisms of the movements. The larger idea was to study the function of the form of the whole body or certain parts and how it helps them. For the exhibition different types of final works were presented which consisted of sculpted models with different materials, machines with simple mechanisms and origami artwork.

The insect I had picked was the praying mantis. The part I was studying was the foreleg. Drawings were created to understand the shape and uses of the foreleg. Later a clay model was made to study the form followed by a wooden model to study the movement and mechanism.

Later in the module, individuals with similar studies were grouped together. I was grouped with individuals who were also studying weaponry of insects. Together we built a simple machine showing the movements of the mandibles.
